Depart hotel by minibus/car to Mae
Sai, the northern-most point of Thailand on the Thai-Burmese
border. Pass through interesting countryside, first
stop is at Bann Wang Lao and its little handicraft center.
Shopping and sightseeing in Mae Sai including visit
to a Jade Cutting Factory. Proceed to visit the Fish
and Monkey Cave before returning to the hotel.
Mae Sai District
Located 62 kms. north of Chiang Rai provincial town
at the end of route 110, Mae Sai is the northernmost
town of Thailand separated from the Burmese border town
of Thakhilek by a small river also called Mae Sai. It
is frequented by both Thai and foreign tourists, who
come to see the sights and to buy jade and other precious
stones produced in Myanmar.
Mae Sai is both a famous shopping centre and an important
jewellery centre, especially jade ornaments.
